Thanks to hosts, sponsors and guests, An Emerald Evening 2009 raised a record-breaking $350,000 to benefit Friends of the Children-Boston, Raising A Reader-MA, Peer Health Exchange and Youth Villages’ Transitional Living program. We had record attendance and contributions on Friday, December 4th and are especially grateful to our presenting sponsors Long’s Jewelers and Rounder Records.

The GreenLight Fund identifies innovative, results-oriented nonprofit programs around the country that show great potential to meet critical local needs and replicates them in Boston. Our goal is to bring proven, high-impact nonprofits to the Boston area and build them into successful, sustainable efforts that dramatically improve the lives of low-income children and families. Five years in, An Emerald Evening will spotlight the four organizations GreenLight has helped bring to the Boston area, reporting on their progress and impact to date.

Net proceeds from An Emerald Evening will benefit these organizations to help them continue to thrive and maximize their impact. For more information, please contact Melanie Damsker at 617.252.2815 or at mdamsker@greenlightfund.org

Friends of the Children

Friends of the Children - Boston is committed to supporting, developing, and fostering high academic achievement and strong character development for our communities most statistically at-risk youth to break cycles of poverty, abuse and neglect.

Raising A Reader

Raising a Reader - MA is a cost-effective, scalable way to boost kindergarten readiness for low-income children. RAR provides simple, ongoing training and rotation of children’s books to young families in communities where the need is great so these children can be on a level playing field when they start school.

Peer Health Exchange

Peer Health Exchange gives teenagers the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy decisions by training college students to teach a comprehensive health curriculum in public high schools that lack health education.
