Launched locally in Chelsea by the GreenLight Fund in early 2006, Raising A Reader is a powerful, innovative program that strengthens the capacity of parents and childcare providers to ensure that children show up to kindergarten ready to read. Raising A Reader’s work focuses on children ages 0-5 in low-income families where parents have poor literacy skills and/or are non-English speakers. Raising A Reader was recently recognized by Fast Company magazine as one of the “Top 25 Groups That Are Changing the World.”
